First, they got a really big bottle and used chopsticks to make the stand. However, realised that to fill a 2-litre bottle they would need more vinegar than we had. Andrew and Olivia decided to make a smaller rocket from a salad dressing bottle.
This time they used tooth picks for stand, this could be done because the bottle was much smaller. Olivia made a cap for the rocket from paper and decorated it using purple felt pens. She drew a smiley face.
Along with making the bottle creation Olivia put baking soda into a piece of toilet paper and Andrew tied it with string. This was to be placed in the rocket before take off along with the vinegar.
Once the rocket was completed Olivia and Andrew took it outside. They had put in the vinegar and all Andrew had to do was quickly pop the parcel of baking soda and the cork into the bottle, give it a shake and off it would fly.
Unfortunately, it did take them 4 attempts, it's a good thing they decided to use the smaller bottle.
