Even giraffes are mindful!

Yesterday the Mindful Movers came to school for our second lesson this term. Mindfulness helps us keep calm and stay in our green brain. Here we are practising our mindfulness. We listen to the ding of the bell for as long as we can and concentrate on our breathing.

Leave us a comment about what helps you stay in your green brain.

Voice type reading

Today, during our Chromebook time we learnt how to use the 'voice type' tool in Google Docs.
We had to put our new skills to use and remember how to make a copy of something and save it to our drives. Next we had to insert a photo of the book cover and then use the 'voice type' to record our reading for us. Once we finished our book we used the 'word count' tool to tell us how many words we read. We hope to beat that number next time we do reading.

This is the second time we have used this tool and each time we are getting better at navigating our way around the Google Doc and where to find the 'tools' we need.

Positive, Thoughtful, Helpful blog comments

Kia ora whānau,

Today in our cyber safety lesson we are learning how to write a quality blog comment. We are learning how to write a comment that is; Positive, Thoughtful and Helpful to the blogs we are visiting.

Below I have posted a piece of work that I would like the children to comment on. In the comments section they will be posting their own comment showing what they have learnt about a quality blog post. This post is designed to have mistakes and get the children thinking about how to help me in my learning journey and encourage me to keep trying. It is also designed to have the children highlight the things I did well and praise me on these things.

A quality blog comment should start with the below;

Time to get creative!

It's time to get creative!

Send Brogan a picture or recording of something you have been working on at home in isolation. This could be a puzzle, painting, dance, song, anything you have been getting creative with. Once you have sent them I will make an animation and post onto our blog to show the world how creative we are.

13 days in isolation

You can accomplish a lot in 13 days of isolation and if you are Ben and his family it has lots to do with LEGO!

Check out these creations!

Challenge accepted by Ben!

Well done to Ben
who accepted my challenge and added his own twist. Instead of taking pictures of things starting with each letter of the alphabet, he thought it would be better to practise his writing and spelling by writing down something for each letter of the alphabet. Great thinking Ben! I really like it how you change the challenge to suit your style of sharing.

I love that people are accepting my challenges and having fun doing them. I am keeping a tally of those who are participating in challenges and I hope to put them in a draw to win something special when we get back to school!

Keep them coming! Remember to send to your work to Brogan.

Challenge accepted by Anameka!

Well done Anameka, you accepted my challenge and you smashed it! You even put the pictures in alphabetical order.

I wonder if anyone else will accept the challenge?

Anameka has been busy in her bubble!

Anameka has been very busy in her isolation bubble. She has been busy ticking off things on the activities list sent home from school and some of her own activities!
I love seeing what you have been up to at home Anameka.

Well done to Ben who did 76 star jumps! He has done the most star jumps out of everyone! Can you beat him?

How many star jumps can you do in one minute?

Kia ora all! I have an exciting challenge for you! The challenge is for you to see how many star jumps you can do in just one minute! I managed to do 62 star jumps today. Can you try to beat me?

Take a video of yourself completing this challenge and send it through to courtneyr@rawhiti.school.nz. Also if you are super creative you can make up your own challenge, maybe you could see how many sit-ups or high knees you could do.

Challenge time!

We have some very creative children in Papatūānuku. I have been busy looking at blog posts over the past two weeks and I am so impressed with people publishing what they have been up to in isolation. One of them was James. James was given a challenge by his Mum, to find and take a photo of something for every letter of the alphabet. James made a pic collage of something for every letter. I loved this idea so much that I wanted to share it and for you to give it a try at home.

I am setting a challenge for you! Can you be like James and find and take a picture of something for every letter of the alphabet? The things you find can be from around your home, you don't have to leave your bubble. Be creative! Once you have done this, turn it into a pic collage or a slide show and send it to Brogan to share with everyone, or even better send it to Brogan and she can... post it to your own blog!

I can't wait to see what you find.

This is what James created. Do you know what letters are missing from here? Comment below!
